Gaza, Sept 9 (Petra) – The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) warned Tuesday that Israel’s prevention of basic assistive devices for amputees and people with disabilities in Gaza, amid ongoing genocide, continuous bombardment, and new forced evacuation orders, amounts to a slow death sentence for thousands of wounded and survivors.

In a statement, the center said the Israeli army has escalated systematic attacks on civilians, targeting towers and residential buildings housing people with disabilities, leaving them only minutes to escape while denying them essential tools necessary for survival and safety.

The PCHR noted that Gaza has become one of the world’s regions with the highest number of child amputees, highlighting the scale of the humanitarian disaster. The center added that these wounded individuals require reconstructive surgeries and prosthetic limbs, which are largely unavailable in the territory, with only a very limited number allowed to travel abroad for treatment.

The center called on the international community to intervene immediately to compel Israel to halt the ongoing genocide against civilians in Gaza and to ensure unrestricted access to medical aids, prosthetics, and medicines.

It also urged the United Nations and relevant agencies to open safe humanitarian corridors and allow urgent travel for patients and amputees to receive treatment abroad, emphasizing that this is a right guaranteed under international law.
